Start of A New Beginning

After all the struggle, I am finally back here! I can't describe how happy I am that my babies are back running now. I truly missed everyone and my friends in the blogosphere. I missed my blogs and I missed reading the updates of my friends from all over the world.

I know I was gone for a long time and I have a lot of updating and upkeeping to do but I am determine to get back in sync with everything little by little everyday using the most of my spare time.

I think it is time for me to start looking for a new laptop. The laptop's battery is drained. I have to plug it while using or else it will shut off. I started looking for new battery in the stores but I would like also to look online to see where I can get the best deal. Is there anyone who know where can I buy batteries online? I want to know another online stores other than ebay and amazon. Of course I want an inexpensive but great quality battery. A battery that would last for a sometime while I am looking for another laptop to buy.

Fruits of Labor!

I am very pleased to share to all of you how my vegetable garden is doing well especially my okra. I can't believe how many okra I harvested everyday. Most of the time, I can get 4-5 okra everyday and this okra aren't small, they are very long and big. I guess, everything is really huge in Texas, huh!

Without any doubt, I am going to do vegetable gardening again next year and I will even plant more vegetables and I will start early also so that my tomatoes and peppers can bear more before extreme summer heat starts.

Weather Check

Per record, this is the longest stretch of 100-ish temperature that we experienced here in Texas. At peak of the day, temperature usually reaches 100-106F. It is burning hot. If your work or activities require you to stay outside more often, make sure you are drinking a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated.

Everyone I know is already looking forward to Fall. My family and I can't wait for the temperature to cool down so we can start doing outdoor activities like camping, hiking and gardening. Few days ago, I already started looking for some camping and hiking gears for my husband and the kids. I found great tourmaster dri-mesh gloves in a discounted price and I think I will get one for hubby and the kids. I am also looking into bags or backpacks that we can use to store food, drinks and medicine kit during hiking.

Cool weather , where art thou? Rain, please come sooner so that the grass and the plants will be green again, the lakes and rivers will be filled again and the temperature will cool down. One thing is sure y'all, I can't wait for Fall to come!

Eye Witness

I was driving in Hwy 360 today southbound when I saw an overturned car in the northbound. The wheels were still rolling and there were paramedics and firefighters who were on the scene. My heart began beating so fast. I had goose bumps; I was scared looking at the scenario on the other side of the road. I don't know what causes that horrible accident but I hope no one got seriously hurt if not lost their lives.

The accident that I saw reminds me of two things. First, be a safe driver to yourself and to other drivers on the road. Always take precautionary measures and not just drive as if you are the only driver around. Second, accidents or unexpected circumstances could happen in just a wink of an eye. Stay calm and focus; in most cases, these great characteristics can save yours and other people's lives. I know it is normal to get panic when things turned out the other way but try to stay as calm as possible.

If you and your family love camping, then maybe it is time for you to consider buying RV. It is costly compared to putting up a tent but it sure does offer more convenience and comfort. It is indeed worthy of your money and investment. You don't have to buy a huge RV, just enough to give your family enough space.

If someday, we will have the money to buy one we will definitely buy one. We love outdoor activities and camping and a small RV will be perfect for us since we are only a small family and there will be less maintenance and RV repairs.

If you own one, don't forget to buy mechanical breakdown insurance for future RV repairs.

Festive Days

On special occasions, hubby and I always make sure to dine out in our favorite restaurant, Houston's in Addison, Texas. The last time we were there was last month for our 4th wedding anniversary. As always, it was a blast.

Why we love Houston's? We have a simple answer to that. We love the food, the people and the ambiance. They have the most delicious homemade smoked salmon in town. It is our all time favorite and one of the reasons why we always and will always go back there!

Sunshine In My Life

Okay, I have to admit that I have been spoiled by my husband with beautiful flowers and gift baskets during special occasions. During Valentines, Mothers Day and our wedding anniversary, I received beautiful roses and other kind of flowers in my office. It was really a great surprise for me. Yes, I know my husband will always do something special during special occasions but the timing and the way he will deliver the gifts is something I still can't predict. I think it is very romantic and full of excitement and I love it so much.

My husband will always pick a flower or gift to my liking and wishes. He knows me so well that he already knows which floral arrangement value I would love the most. Actually, the price of the gift doesn't really matter; what matters most is the thought and the note that goes with the gift.

As my husband and I continue our journey to the future, I am sure there will be more flower and gift deliveries during special occasions. I think later on the flower company that hubby always buy the flowers and gifts will give him a membership for a lifetime and hopefully discounts as well.

I love flowers and I crave and appreciate surprises and excitement! Don't you?

New Face

Hubby has to re-positioned the TV in the family room because he needs to hang 2 movie pictures on the side of the wall where the TV is. Since the TV is kinda far from the outlet so we need more tv cables.

Unfortunately, we don't have extra in the house so hubby has to go to the store to get one. It was a quick trip for him though because there are a lot of stores close to our house. When he was back, I noticed that he bought extra tv cables just in case we need one for the other TVs in the house.

After hubby put up the TV on its new location, the family room upstairs looks even nicer and more cozy. Another job well done for my personal home decorator/interior designer. LOL

Summer and My New Love

This summer is one of the busiest I ever experienced here in Texas. Aside from my busy schedule at work, I am also very busy planting flowers and plants in our front yard and my vegetable garden in the backyard.

I always dream of having my own small vegetable garden in our backyard and finally I was able to make it. Thanks to my dear husband for all his support and help in setting up the garden and watering the vegetables every morning and afternoon when I have to be early at work and stay late to do OT.

I am very much pleased on the outcome of both front yard plants and flowers and my vegetable garden. I have been harvesting some vegetables already like okra, pepper, tomatoes and now my eggplant starts bearing fruit. I can't wait for the time when all of them will bear fruits and I don't have to buy them from the supermarket. Most of all, I will be using organic vegetables straight from my garden.

Everyday, it is getting hotter and hotter here in Texas! Everyone is hoping for rain since the soil is getting very dry and the water level is getting lower. The plants that aren't watered everyday are withered. This is just a sign that summer officially kicks in.

However, time will just go by quick and soon winter will be here. It will soon be cold if not freezing cold and everyone will start to turn on their heater and start building fire in their fireplace. As early as now, some of our friends are now renovating their fireplaces and adding fireplace mantels. If your fireplace doesn't seem to be the focal point in your living or family room, try to add fireplace mantel to it. I have seen a lot of houses whose family room have changed a lot by simply adding fireplace mantels to their fireplaces.

Do a research and check which fireplace mantel suit best for you and your home, then start planning for your renovation. If you are a handyman, then renovation as simple as this won't cost you a buck for the labor.

Day In, Day Out

Everyone at work already anticipated that we will be very busy after the long July 4th weekend and we are all correct. We were swarmed and the office was packed all throughout the day everyday of the week. Honestly, we do like it because more customers mean more work and it means job security for everyone.

As always, I do appreciate the additional day off during holidays although waking up and getting ready in the morning for work isn't easy especially if you are like us who accustomed ourselves to stay in bed until almost noon if there is no work. Just like you, whenever we have no work we try to catch some sleep, rest and stay in bed as long as we can especially if the yard doesn't need to get mowed and there is no schedule house cleaning.

Since we have a longer weekend, so work week is shorter and I can't believe that tomorrow is already Friday. TGIF! Yahhoooo! I honestly can't wait for the weekend to come! After a very busy week at work, I can now relax until Monday comes.

Is It Time For A Change?

Hubby got very frustrated one morning because I called him twice but he couldn't hear me on the other line. He tried to call me but the same thing happened. My network signal is full so I don't think it was the problem; hubby thought it might be my cellphone. Let me tell you why he said that.

My cellphone isn't new but not one of the very old model. It is touch phone with 3G and WIFI feature. I have a Samsung Behold but hubby always insist that I should buy a new phone either the new Samsung, LG or iphone. He always ask me several times if I want a new phone and I always insist that my cellphone is still okay even if it is already 2 years old. Sometimes I think of giving up to my hubby's request anyway there is nothing wrong about getting a newer phone. Maybe then we won't have any moment when we have trouble hearing each other during calls.

If I have to get a new phone, I would prefer to have an iphone. Let's see what I will actually get when I decide to let go of my behold. :-)

Hardwork Pays Off

I am not being conceited but I think we have one of the most green and well-manicured yard in the neighborhood. Thanks to my wonderful husband for diligently cutting and trimming the grass every week. Yes, you hear it right; he does it every week on his day off.

Sometimes I come home from work and I see my husband mowing outside. Since it is getting too hot here in Texas, late afternoon is more sense. Having a beautiful yard isn't a joke. On the other side, it is a great form of exercise especially when you have to push your lawn mower back and forth across your yard for an hour.

One time, I jokingly told hubby that he will not worry because our yard will always be maintained beautifully even when we are older because I will buy him a mower that he can just ride on it; no need to push like ariens mower. He replied, well you just have to enjoy that picture in your mind for now because I still have long way to go until my old age. LOL. I am glad he has a great sense of humor aside from being a hard working and wonderful husband!

I know I am one of the blessed one to get the chance to enjoy work off during holidays. This week is not an exception to that.

For the July 4th, I will get the chance to enjoy a 3-day weekend which means a short work week ahead. I know it is awesome and I am very grateful to get the chance to enjoy this great perk and extra day to relax and spend time with my family. Above, I don't forget what this holiday is really for.

You Are The Best!

To all the Daddy's out there, Happy Fathers Day to all of you! I hope everyone had a great Fathers Day celebration. I hope your day has been extra exciting, wonderful and memorable by celebrating it with your family and love ones. Also, I hope you are pampered with not only token or gifts but also with so much unconditional love from your love ones.

As for us, hubby celebrated Fathers Day simply but very intimate. We just decided to stay home and make smoke salmon, our favorite appetizer whenever we dine at Houstons Restaurant. It was hubby's first time to cook it but it came out so great, just like it was done in Houston's. I gave hubby a small token of love and appreciation for being a wonderful father and husband. It wasn't the most expensive gift (like laptop, bb playbook tablets, kindle, etc) but I can truly see that he appreciate it so much and it makes me feel great. He has never changed; he is still and always become happy with everything that is given to him with love and sincerity. One of his greatness that I love the most.

During blizzard, it is very difficult to see the road. I haven't been driving in this extreme weather condition but a friend of mine did this almost every day during winter. If you live up north where snow and blizzard often occur during winter, it is very important that you will have emergency LED Light Bar mounted in the front of your car. It is very useful when you need to illuminate a specific area while you are riding.

I know LED Light Bar doesn't come cheap but if it helps your driving safer and easier during worse weather condition or very dark road, then it is worthy.

In few months, I have to renew my sticker for state inspection. I don't think I have a problem with my car but if in case there is something I need to buy for it to pass the inspection like bearings or power transmission; Reid Supply Company is the answer. The True Meaning of Fun

Early this month, our barangay (village) in the Philippines had celebrated once again our yearly fiesta in honor of our patron saint. My family and our relatives had a great celebration. The festivity is usually highlighted with lots of food, drinks, dancing, karaoke, carousel and a lot more of fun stuff. The outdoor speakers that my brother has brought home from working abroad was very useful. It made the karaoke sounds better and louder. In festivities like this, the louder your sound system can get the better it is. In fact, the organizer will sometimes hold a contest "battle of the blocks" which means that the block of the community with the loudest sound system wins! This time of the year is considered to be the merriest time of the year in the community. I can't wait to experience it again! Hopefully soon!!!

The Mavericks won their 2nd conference championship title last night after beating the Thunders on their 5the game. After long years of drought after the 2006 win, Mavericks prove their worth again. 2011 Forbes magazine named Mavericks as the sixth most valuable basketball franchise in the United States after New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets.

Mavericks will face Miami Heat in the championship finals. Games 3, 4 and 5 will be at the American Airlines Center and tickets will be on sale at 10:00AM. Mavs memorabilia are now available in stores and in their website.

Overwhelming Rental Needs

Several cars in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex were greatly damaged from the hail this week. According to someone I know, she called all the car rentals in the area that accepts her insurance but she was no luck due to all cars are already leased. She even went as far as checking car rentals 1-2 hours away from DFW but she was told they have no car available to rent as of the moment. I know the hail had damaged a lot of cars but I never thought it is that worse.

I talk to hubby last night that we might go and check some cars in the nearby dealership. I am sure they will have a sale soon with their cars that were damaged by the hail. I don't know how cheap they can go but I have the feeling that we may be able to get a good deal. Oh, if you don't know we are still in the search for a car. It's been several months past already but we haven't find the car that I can call my own.

Hardwood and laminate floor, can you spot the difference? If you are not a pro like me it might be difficult for you to recognize which one is which. Good quality laminate floor can look as elegant and as beautiful as the hardwood floor. The best thing is laminate doesn't cost as much as hardwood. Great look and great savings in one. Nothing can beat that for sure!

Now that we finally buy a new breakfast table. Looks like our next project is to change the carpet in downstairs to wood floor. Hubby has already shown me some pictures of laminate floor that he is considering to buy. I must say, that it looks just as great as the hardwood that was on the same catalog. I am super excited with our next project because I can already picture out how beautiful downstairs will look with the wood floor.

June Bride: Are you?

Getting married in June? Yes, we did! ... 4 years ago which makes me one of the June Brides... :-)

I know you heard a lot about the famous tag line June Bride but have you wonder what it mean. The meaning of the word is simple. When you are married in June, you are called June Bride. In the United States, June is a beautiful month. It is the start of the summer so it isn't very hot yet. It is also the time of the year when beautiful flowers fully bloom. June is a great time to get married outside, so if you want garden wedding, farm wedding or beach wedding this month is perfect for you. I think these are some of the reasons why June is a famous month for weddings.

In our case, hubby and I initially plan to have our wedding on the 8th of August (08/08) but due to some changes in the immigration law then we have to rush and wed in June to make sure we will be able to submit our paperwork before the immigration fees increases. You may wonder why I want to get married on August 8. I believe getting married on the 8th day of the 8th month of the year denotes luck (Chinese belief). However, getting married on the 8th of the 6th month of the year is also commendable because in Chinese belief both number 6 and 8 have good association.

Soon we are going to celebrate our anniversary. Sure, time goes by fast. I can still picture myself in my white wedding dress which I picked in the last minute among the 3 wedding dresses that I initially had an eye on. It was very small wedding but beautiful and very intimate!

Beautiful Day; Go Out and Play!

After the severe thunderstorm that engulfed Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex yesterday, a beautiful weather has replaced. Today, the sun is up and it is shining brightly in the clear sky. The wind is blowing but not that bad. It is just enough to cool down the air making the temperature warm not hot perfect for outdoor activities like strolling in the park, swimming in the pool or waterpark, gardening and grilling.

Today, we went to the park then I did some work in my garden while hubby was marinating the meat for grilling later that day. After working in the garden, we hang out in the patio while waiting for our food. The beautiful weather and the BBQ makes my day!

This is the kind of weather I love the most. Spring and Fall weather are my favorite except the severe thunderstorms and tornadoes....

Active and Fit!

Okay. I am more serious now than ever in losing weight. So far, I already lost 8lbs but I still have 15lbs to go. I want to go back to my 110lbs weight and maintain it whenever I get to that weight.

What I do to lose weight? I am lessening the portion of food I eat every meal. I watch my daily calories intake to make sure I don't go beyond the recommended amount. I exercise almost everyday by either doing video exercises like cardio, taebo, pilates, yoga and go for a brisk walk and run outside, going around the neighborhood. I drink a lot of water and green tea.

I want to lose weight naturally. Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against to those who wants to undergo surgery or take diet pills like lipozene to lose weight. In fact, I know of a friend who takes diet pills and she said her body is reacting to it positively and she is losing weight. I can't help but be very happy for her.

On Mothers Day!

Mothers Day had passed already but it doesn't mean we have to stop honoring our beloved mothers. We have to make sure that every day we make our mothers feels special, needed, respected and loved. You don't have to give her expensive gifts or flowers; a phone call, text or just a gesture of respect is a vivid way of showing them how much we value and honor them.

On Mothers Day, people go crazy in spending money and finding the perfect gift for their mothers. What is the unique mothers day gift you have given and received on Mothers Day?

I haven't received anything fancy on that day but my little guy made me a card and put up a beautiful art for me that hubby and I decided to frame it and hang it in the wall of our room or his room. As for hubby, he gave me shopping money and takes me to the mall to shop for few outfits on that day.

It wasn't the gifts, cards or money I received on Mothers Day that counts the most, it is the treasured time that I spent with my boys and loved ones that matters the most!

I miss my family back home especially my mother. Most of the times, I wish I live closer to them so that I will be able to see them and talk to them as often as I can. I miss the simple, slow pace life I have back home. I miss the place, the people and the fresh food that I ate everyday.

As funny as it seems but I haven't realize that I had been eating organic food for the first 23 years of my life until my sister-in-law point it out to me in one of our conversations about eating healthy. I remember that if weather and time permits, my mother and I will go to the beach before daybreak and wait for small fishermen to come home so we can buy some of their catch. Since those fishermen go out fishing at night and come home early morning so their catch is definitely fresh and some are even alive. We normally cook fish soup in the morning or lunch and the soup of fresh caught fish is very good; kinda sweet.

Next year, I will be visiting them again and just like anyone else who has been away from home, I am very excited and I can't wait to set my feet again in the Philippines soil!

Summer Fun Is Here!

Texas summer is officially here! It is getting hotter now although we have an occasional storm cell dropping by every now and then. When you go outdoors, you will definitely need to dress up accordingly and wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays.

This is the time of the year to get my shorts, flip flops, sandals, tank tops, sleeveless shirts, sun dresses, swimsuits/bikinis and my favorite prada sunglasses out and put to use. This is the perfect time to take your family and friends to the beach, lake, swimming pools and water parks to enjoy the warm water under the heat of the sun which is perfect way to get that beautiful natural tan that everyone wants to have during these months.

Summer has just started and there will be more hot months and wonderful summer days ahead of us this year. If you haven't made your plans where to go this summer, start putting your thoughts now!

Hitched With Football

If you know me well, you know that football is my favorite sport. It isn't always my bet sport but it became my favorite 4 years ago.

It started when my husband took me to watch the game between Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. That was my first time to formally get introduced to the game and I was privileged to watch live in the famous old Cowboys stadium. I remember I was so bored watching the game while hubby and our friends were having so much fun. That night I swear to myself that I will ready and study more about the game.

Every Sunday and Monday hubby would tag me along in front of the TV to watch football game until the day came that I don't have to be told that the game is on, I just sat in front of the TV and watched the game even by myself. I love rewarding myself with different football stuff especially with my favorite team, Dallas Cowboys, and I called them my football gifts.

Something about the game has enticed me to look into it more closely and learn more about it. It is fun and very exciting to me!

Inspired To Read

We went for the 1st then the 2nd and I would say that it never fails to entertain us including our little guy. He loves it and as parents we love watching it too. It isn't the kind of movie that is only intended to entertain young people. What I am talking about is the movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" (1st) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2nd). Have you and your little ones watch it yet?

If your kids isn't into reading but love this movie, buy the book and I am sure he will get hook into it in no time. Our little guy loves every page of it and he is looking forward to reading the 2nd book. I have no problem in buying him a copy since it helps him to love and see the good thing about books.

Nowadays, everything is designed and made to make life more convenient, fun and productive. Every year new versions of electronic gadgets, cars, services, etc are brought to the market in the hope of advancing the way people live their lives. For instance, if you are doing inventory work or you are in the retail industry, the invention of cordless barcode scanner is very useful to you. It makes your work easier and handy without worrying the cord of your scanner will be caught with the things around you which oftentimes result work intervention. Some cars are manufactured environmentally friendly like the hybrid or good gas mileage. I can go more and more with my list and I am sure you do as well. Family Homework

The little one has a report to make about Greek mythology. He picked Zeus as his character so hubby and I helped him research some interesting facts about Zeus. I copied and pasted some pieces of information to MS Word so I can print it later for easy reference. Then a surprise unfold when I am getting ready to print, the paper came out blank. At first I thought I didn't print the right page but the pop-up box told me that the black ink is out. What a day! The hp ink cartridges run out when I needed it the most! Great!

Hubby has to run to the store to buy ink while the little guy and I were home so he can start drawing the illustration for his report. The report requires the little guy to write the report in his own words. Basically, my task is just to help him whenever he has question or needs clarification about the subject matter.

When the report was finished, I was very much pleased on how the little guy takes pride in making his report with very little help from us. He is a big boy now! It is amazing how time flies quickly...

Sad Truth!

I know we all leave from this earth but whenever I heard some of the people I know were gone, it makes me very sad. It also reminds me of how short life is and no one really knows when our time will come. Live each day like your last is what we should do. I know we are very busy coping up with life's demands and pressures but I hope we never forget to show our love ones how much they mean to us and how much we love them.

To the bereaved families of the people I know who passed away, my deepest condolences to all of you. I know this is a very difficult time for y'all but just hand on and ask for strength and guidance from Him.

All of us have different inclination. I mean, some people love writing, computer and online games, shopping, horse back riding, diving or master the art of horse riding: equestrian. I grew up in a small town about 2-3 hrs away from the city but my first five years of existence in this world was spent in a very remote but very beautiful place where there was only our house and our farm around us.

Back then, our parents raised different kind of animals like cows, carabao (domesticated species of water buffalo), horses, goats and poultry. We used horses as our means of transportation to go from one place to another. So riding a horse isn’t really a new thing for me back then. In fact, I was very good at it. My parents bought me a riding shoes more or less liken to an equestrian boots for added comfort and convenience. I love those boots so much and it took me a long time to let it go. I still keep it even if it doesn’t fit me anymore. I only let it go when they bought me a new one. Trade in? Mom said and I said yes!

Most of our hobbies originated when we were young. We might not do it for a long time but at some point in the future you tend to look into it again and get back into it. One of my wishes is for me to be able to ride horses again in the near future, not only in one day but more frequent as possible.

Right now, I am just focusing myself with gardening. This is the newest hobby I have and I love it!

Loving My New Hobby

I never thought gardening can be so addictive. Every time I am done doing some work in my small vegetable garden at the back, I feel so great; very rewarding. It is also very exciting watching the plants grow every day. I can't wait to harvest some of them and use them in cooking food. I can't wait to start eating organic vegetables again just like what I ate in the first 23 years of my life. This is my first time gardening and I am hoping this will be a success.

Come Sunday, I will be adding more plants in my garden. I plan to buy more eggplant, okra, spinach, string beans and some herbs. I want to maximize all the space I have in my garden. I guess I picked the right location of my garden in the backyard; it isn't very big but the shape gives me more room to plant more vegetables.

The South has been greatly devastated by the series of severe thunderstorms, hail and destructive tornadoes. Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and some part of Texas had been greatly affected. Several properties had been damaged including houses, cars,etc especially from the hard hit areas. Last week's series of tornadoes resulted to hundreds if not thousands of homeless families. It was indeed a very devastating week for several people in the southern part of the country.

Just like the victims of Hurricane Katrina and other calamities, victims of the recent mother earth wrath is determined to rebuild their house and the community. They sure need help financial help but prayers and moral support will greatly be appreciated, I believe.

It's been 2 months and a half since I hurt my wrist and it is still hurting until now. I have been to few doctors' appointment and a therapy session but the swelling and the pain still don't go away. I can tell though that it is getting better, there's a progress and that is important. I think the therapy is very helpful and my therapist taught me a massage technique to help lessen the swelling. She also told me to put ice on it as often as I can. Per my doctor and my readings, wrist sprain or strain usually takes long to heal and it even takes longer if you are moving your hands too often while it is healing. I will have a doctor's appointment in two weeks and more therapy sessions before it so will see if my wrist will even get better than the current condition. If not, we will see what the doctor's next step will be. Or maybe I will just wait until my wrist heals by itself or continue with my therapy. Before this happened, I didn't even now that there are rehabilitation center that specializes with hand and upper extremity injuries, sleep disorder, dual diagnosis treatment, etc. Hahaha....the wonders of medical field...

Self Improvement On The Go

We are doing our spring cleaning in the weekend and we decided to start in the second floor. Hubby decided to re-arrange the furniture upstairs and look into mounting the flat screen tv in the wall. If you are going to ask me, I prefer to buy an entertainment center but hubby has another idea and after he explain it to me I think I am convinced. My Day Well Spent

What a beautiful day it was! I was able to sleep in and just relax all day watching one of my favorite TV shows, NCIS and Criminal Minds. I was also able to check my emails and my other online blogs and websites. Oh, I did grocery shopping in the afternoon when hubby got home from work. It was a short "me time" but I enjoy walking around the supermarket quietly and free. I was disappointed though because the Wal-Mart that I went to didn't have green lettuce which is very important for our salad. I bought everything I need there but I have to swing by at Kroger’s to get the green lettuce. Thanks God the latter is only less than a mile away. From there, I have to hurry up in going home because the family will be over to celebrate my mom-in-law’s birthday. As I was approaching the front house, I already smell the food that hubby was grilling. Today was indeed a very wonderful day: great weather, grocery shopping done and the family get together was terrific!

Having a very active little one, it is needed to keep first aid kit in the house just in case I will need it in the future (God forbid). I am also planning of having a medicine cabinet where I can store all the medicine and my first aid kit. In this way, I will be able to put everything in one place so it is easy to locate if needed.

After all, it is better to be prepared and equipped because sometimes things happen so quick that you will only have short time to respond to it. I am empowered. I am inspired. I attended a women's conference today and it feels great listening to the words of wisdom shared by the speaker. The theme of the conference is very empowering and absolutely important for the women of today to become successful both personal and career aspects. Those words are like food to a hungry body and it surely boosts your self-esteem towards dealing with life's challenges and opportunities.

I learned a lot from the conference and I appreciate all my bosses for letting us go there. It was also a great way of meeting all women from the different department of the company. It was a great way to network and put faces to the names that you only see in paper, emails or the company's directory.

This year was my second year of attending that event and I look forward for next year.

Respecting Individuality

Everyone is unique and we make our decision and choices base on what we believe is right or wrong. Our choice may be influenced by our culture, tradition, and lifestyle but at the end of the day we all know that we have to take full responsibility of the outcome, good or bad.

I will be honest, I don't like smoking and I don't want any of my immediate family to get into it. Of course, I can't tell everyone on what to do especially the grown family members. My role is maybe to remind them by presenting fact and consequences of smoking. I would like my family to understand that smoking doesn't only pose dangerous to their health but also can cost them money that could have been set aside for rainy days.

Just like any clan, I have distant cousins and relatives who smoke and I respect them and their choice and they respect my views in return. Some of them are using cigarette but some smoke cigars. The older folks are ones the mostly prefer cigar. If they can't find any good cigar in the store nearby they use the internet to shop. They said that for a long time now they have been trying to buy dutch master cigars but didn't get the chance to materialize the plan. They ask me if I heard about it and I told them I didn't obviously because I am not into it.

Warmer Weather On The Way Y'all

We had a very beautiful warm weather today after the cold weather this week. So far, it looks like we are going to have a very sunny and warm weekend especially Sunday when we have temperature on the 90's. Texas weather can abruptly change in just a blink of an eye. At one point you thought you will be wearing your shorts and sleeveless clothes only to wake up in the morning preparing long sleeve top and pants.

Definitely, I am very excited for the weekend to come. With the beautiful weather, I am sure my family and I will be able to enjoy my MIL birthday celebration. The weather is perfect for grilling and more outdoor activities for kids. Come Sunday, hubby's new and huge charcoal grill will be finally put to test. He said he is very excited to use it and feed everyone with his terrific BBQ recipe.

Hubby and I share the same interest especially when it comes to decorating our house. We both love sleek and modern contemporary decors for our house. We love colors but we very carefully pick the paint color that we use in our house. We want to make our house bright and elegant. Our decor is a conglomeration of Western and Oriental culture showing my Asian/Oriental origin and hubby's Western side.

To make the space look bigger, we choose to buy smaller sofa set and dining table for our formal living and dining downstairs. However, until today we still can't seem to agree as to what coffee table and side table we are using along with lamps and shades. I know what you are thinking and yes we are picky. We want everything to jive with our modern contemporary theme, so we are looking for a contemporary coffee tables ~ something sleek, elegant and have good quality.

Just like the other furniture, this search may take a while and a lot of store visits but we are willing to wait to get what we really wanted.

Honey-Do List

We bought our house brand new. It feels great to think that there was no one else who live in this house. It keeps my weird and crazy mind from imagining what happened to the families who used to live in the house especially if the house was previously owned by more than 1 family. It would be very hard to keep track of all the happenings.

The perk of buying a new house, of course, everything is new including appliances. The slight disadvantage is the house usually comes bare like you are the one who will buy the blinds, garage door opener and other cosmetics. In our case, we have to install the blinds and garage door opener. We didn't spend a fortune but sure it cost us couple of thousands because our house has several windows and it is around 2,500 sq ft.

Just like some of you, we have to do our honey-do list one at a time. We started with the blinds and some furniture in the house and now we finally decided to install a garage door opener. Manually closing and opening the garage especially on rainy, icy or snowy days is certainly a pain in the butt. Sometimes, I knowingly not park the car in the garage because I am lazy to open it manually.

Last month, hubby was searching the internet for ideas on what garage door opener consumer love. We consider both the affordability and the quality of the product. Since hubby doesn't finalize yet as to what garage door opener he is buying, I think my idea is still welcome. Knowing my husband, I think he will love liftmaster garage door opener parts. I don't know if he can but since parts are available he might be able to customize our garage opener to suit our needs.

Geez, I can't wait until our garage door opener is installed and get the honey-do list shorter! LOL

Online education is very in these especially for busy parents or career-oriented individuals. Surprisingly enough there are a lot of courses or field of studies that are now available online. Because of my busy schedule at work, I once thought of taking some courses online for either management, business administration or IT related courses. I can get my online it degree easier and faster than I thought it will be.

Easy and convenience, that is what all type of businesses and infrastructures want to offer to their consumers. With more and more technologies and software being develop, it brings more convenient to people.

My Kid Loves Salad, Yours?

For the 2^nd consecutive day, our little guy takes salad to school for his lunch along with his other knick-knacks. Yesterday was the experimental start and it was successful so as today. I was surprised how he loves the vegetable/fruit salad. He goes "Geez, I can't believe how I love the salad that you made for my lunch Tita". I went and check his lunch box and true enough he ate it all except couple of small cut lettuce and a slice of cucumber.

I told Dada about it and of course he is very happy and very proud of our little guy. Not a lot of kids at his age (8 and half) would love to have salad as much as he does. Well, he always love to eat salad but only very little portion and not an everyday thing. Now, he would like to bring salad to school for lunch and just alternate it with sandwich and tacos. We just put the stuff together he needs in separate Ziploc and he is the one who mix them all. He is such a big boy now! We are so proud of him!

My Way to Healthier Me

My weight loss plan is eating healthy food and exercise regularly. I gained 15lbs since I came here in the US 4 years ago and I am seriously trying and finding ways to lose the excess weight in my body. I eat healthy food at the same time I lessen the portion of food I eat every meal. I am eating more vegetables like salad and fruits and more white meat and fish.

I also tried to do variety of exercise every week like I go to the gym and use the equipment there, run/walk around the neighborhood in the morning or afternoon, do some video exercises or lift some weights. I prefer lifting lighter weights, 5lbs and below, because I don't want to show huge muscles, I just simply want to tone down and get firmer. I know every individual has a different view when it comes to muscle building. Some people love to have more defined and bigger muscles and they use muscle building supplements along with muscle building exercises to achieve better result.

Warm weather, where art thou? Just like you, I can't believe how the weather changes from a very warm and beautiful weather at the mid 70's to 80's to a colder 50's. A week ago just when the weather gets warmer and warmer I decided to put away my winter/fall clothes only to find out that I do need them this week and maybe in the weeks to come.

Being here in Texas for 4 years you might think that I already get used to the crazy Texas weather but I guess I am not yet accustomed to it. I still remember it was warm outside when we went inside the restaurant on Saturday afternoon but a very surprisingly colder weather greeted us when we got out from early evening. Since then, the weather has been cold in the low 50's plus strong wind gusts which makes the wind even colder.

I hope Texas will get warmer again in the coming weeks. I am already tired of cold weather and I am so ready to get some sun as often as possible!

In fact, we know of few people who are studying to get their certification for computer, mechanic and aircraft technician. Working and studying at the same time isn't easy for them, just like anyone else who is on the same shoes with them, but the dream of having a better future for themselves and their families are their hopes and inspiration to succeed. In one point of my life, I was even thinking of getting any certification related to computer since most computers or IT related jobs do pay good money. Who won't be tempted to earn more anyway? Warm to Cold

What happened to the warm and cozy Texas spring? Today's weather was very much of a surprise to everyone in Texas. For so many days now, we have a temperature on the mid 70's to 80's but today we abruptly dropped to 50's. I thought I am already done with the long-sleeve clothes so I already put them up but I am definitely wrong. I have to wear a jacket today because the strong wind gust is making the weather colder than what it is supposed to be. Oh well, Texas weather it is!

We haven't did anything much today except grocery shopping and grilling some food when we get home. No sun the whole day plus a colder weather can definitely makes you decide to just stay indoor and chill getting ready for the work week ahead. Watching movies and the computers have helped us a lot to entertain the young one keeping him from thinking into going outside.

Looking Into the Future

Hubby and I always dream to start a small business someday although we haven't figure out yet on what kind of business we want. Tonight he was telling me some of the options that we might consider if we indeed decide to have one. There was the idea of pizza or frozen yogurt stores. He wants to engage in a business which he has knowledge on how it is run. He said that most people started their business using small business loans. He said that if we will apply for it we might be able to get it. I told him that I certainly don't want to have another debt aside from the house mortgage because if something happened to one of us, who will help the other pay off the business and mortgage loan. He answered; that is why we have life insurance and savings. If something happens, that money will be able to take care of you and our family.

For a second, I realized how big of a help life insurance will be to the family left behind. Pain of losing your love ones is almost unbearable how much more if you will also fear of losing your properties like your house at the same time. It would be dreadful, right? The airport environment is very diverse. Everyday you will meet different people from different part of the country or the world. Through your conversation with them, you will be able to learn a lot of stuff regarding the culture and tradition of the places they came from.

Being able to work in an environment as diverse as the airport is considered by me a great privilege. Aside from the fact that I love to work with people, I also love to hear their stories, their struggles and the huge adjustment that they have to do when they arrived in the US. Why I find those stories very fascinating? Simply because I can definitely relate with them! I once wear the same shoes!

Through our casual conversation, a friend told me that in Egypt, families who belong to the upper class of the society would give gold or gold bars a present to a couple who are getting married. Time flies! I almost can't believe that its March already. It's just like yesterday that we had Christmas then the start of the year 2011 but now spring break is just around the corner. One day, I was just lying in bed and staring at the ceiling I realize that my nephews and my cousins that were just children before are now grown up. All of these could only means one thing: I am getting older! LOL.

Anyway, another weekend is here! It will be a little busy Saturday for me because of our little guy's basketball championship game and awarding ceremony but I am sure it will be so much fun! On the other hand, Sunday will be a little mellow day for me and my family. No plans made yet so it means we will be basically hanging out in the house except when we do grocery shopping!

DFW Metroplex Weekend Weather Update

I haven't been outside yet but judging on what I saw I can tell that we have a very beautiful weather - warm and cozy. I slept in today since I am off and when I woke up I watched a movie that is why I am still here in the four corner of our room.

Now, the little guy keep on bugging me to get up and get dress so we can go somewhere since I promise him that I will take him to the park if he will keep quiet and stop coming to the room so I can enjoy my movie. The barter works perfectly but now it is my turn to fulfill my promise to him. He said I owe him and he is now asking for the payback! LOL

By the way, hubby just called and he told me that we are supposed to be in the mid 70s today. Wow, what a nice weather ~ perfect for outdoor activities! Ok, Texans enjoy the weather, who knows what tomorrow is gonna be like! :-)

My Drive To Becoming Fit

Back to weight loss topic. I apologize; I just can't over this subject. This has been in my mind lately especially now that I am really determined to realize my goal no matter what happens. My weight loss program involves a very simple formula: healthy and small portion of food and daily exercise. After a month, I will see what good things this weight loss plan brings to me. If it isn't working, I will use my plan B which I won't share for now because I am simply hoping plan A will work. :-)

It is true; there are different weight loss programs vailable in the market nowadays. There is nothing wrong with them but I want to do it the natural and healthier way.

It Is For My Boys!

Hubby and I decided to buy the little guy a PS3. Hubby said he likes PS3 better than the other game gadgets since we can play DVD's on it. Upon purchase of the PS3, we found out that we can access Netflix on it so we decided to get on a monthly subscription and man it is very cheap for only $7.99 a month.

Since, I am not really into online or computer games I leave my boys alone. When the PS3 arrived hubby thought he was missing a PS3 HDMI cables. He was very sad because without it our flat screen TV won't be compatible. He keeps on going back and fort from the desktop computer to the TV then to the PS3 and so on and so forth. I saw the disappointment in his face since it has been several minutes passed and he was still not able to realize if it will work or not.

Thanks God, before that night ends, hubby was able to figure out the connection and the little guy and him played game until dawn. The product was delivered on the weekend so it was just perfect or else they can't stay late and have fun with it.

I must say, it is a good buy so far!

On To A New Beginning!

Lately, my schedule at work changed. I moved to an earlier shift which I honestly loved. Of course, I miss everyone with my previous shift but I am happy that I am now able to go home early or go to the gym everyday since I have already a lot of time to do it after work. It was a little hard to change my wake up time in the morning, after all I am not really a morning person but I managed to do it for 2 weeks now.

Aside from waking up early, the other thing that I am not looking forward to is the traffic especially going home in the afternoon. It so happened that my new schedule ends during rush hours in the afternoon. Hence, I decided to just devote my time in the gym until the traffic mellows down. I was thinking that instead of being stuck in the traffic for 45 minutes, I would rather use it to sweat my weight off in the gym.

My Quest to the New Me!

Officially, I am back to my weight loss goal! Yes, you guys heard it right! Last week I officially launched my own weight loss journey. For the past couple of months my weight has been fluctuating - going up and down. Now, that I was moved to an early shift at work. I already have a lot of time to hit the gym everyday. I was also thinking of joining the yoga or boot camp classes at the gym to give variation to my daily workout regime. I been very careful with what food I eat and the portion of the food I eat. Alongside with the daily exercise, I also do the after six diet which means I won't eat anything except fruits or vegetables after 6PM at night except for weekends. Weekends is sort of the time of the week when I treat myself for being good the whole week.

I know some people are taking the easy route in losing weight like undergoing cosmetic surgery or taking diet pills but I want to do it slowly and natural. Print or TV ads has been talking about best diet pills available in the market today which according to some consumer have helped them get back in shape. Everyone has a choice and I respect them with their decision. I guess, as long as, it is properly monitored and recommended by their doctors I think it is okay. Red Nose on February

Yesterday, I woke up with a red spot in the upper part of my nose. I was thinking it might be rushes or worst a pimple. Shocks! I hate pimples that is for sure, who wouldn't anyway!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to put on even light make up to fully freshen up my face! I had no spare time to do it. I woke up late so I have to hurry up leaving the house to give me ample travel time to work. Friday is always hard for me especially I have to be at work very early in the morning which isn't my regular schedule all throughout the week.

When I get to work some of my co-workers notice the red spot in my nose. Great, isn't it? LOL. I was thinking this is my fault because I am just too lazy to clean my face every night. I think I need to start washing my face to remove dirt or make up, perhaps use face wash for acne or just any facial wash. I don't have a very sensitive skin, thanks God but I know I still have to clean it to avoid pimples, acne or any infection.

He Is Truly Amazing and I Loved It So!

I know this is a late Valentines Day update but oh I figure out that since we are still in the love month (February) so I am still good to go. To start off, I will say that I have the most memorable and the most exciting Valentines Day ever. It has nothing to do with the material things that I receive on that day but it has something to do with the thought that goes with those things. I love surprises, yes I do and my loving husband never fails to surprise me amidst of his busy schedule at work. I feel very much loved and cherished on that day, yes I did!

Well, it started with chocolate coated strawberries delivered at work. Oh, I must admit it was very beautiful and tasty. I called him and thank him only to find out later that day the other surprise that he prepared for me. Just couple of hours before I left work on that day, a UPS delivery arrived at my desk. When the man approaches me I jokingly told him that he got the wrong lady since I already received mine in the morning, but he asked me if I am ******, he mentioned my name. So I said yes and he told me in return that the box is for me. Yes, I saw my name on the box and it was 2 dozens of beautiful roses.

He sure did know how to surprise me, isn’t he? He knows that I would expect something sent or delivered to work on that day but he knows that I won't expect a second delivery that is why he did it to spice it up. That day culminated with a very nice dinner at home with food prepared and cooked by him for the three of us (me, him & the little guy).

To Buy or Not?

Few months ago, we were still contemplating whether to buy another flat screen TV for our formal living room downstairs. Guess what? Until this day we haven't made a decision yet. However, since the 42" Samsung HDTV that hubby keeps his eye on is on sale at the website which offers discount for all employees at work, we are leaning on the thought of buying one. We will temporarily put it in our bedroom until we can decide on whether to put it in the formal living room or somewhere else in the house. If we decided we don't need a TV downstairs then this would be a big treat for me and hubby having a good size flat screen TV in our room - this would mean no more wearing eyeglasses or contacts for me whenever I watch TV. Yay! Oooppsss, I guess this is too early for a little celebration. Before falling in love with this thought, I will make sure first that hubby's mind didn't change. After almost 2 hours of basketball practice for the little one, we are finally home and now I am getting ready to cook dinner for hubby. I know it is kinda late already considering that it is already 8:43PM but it doesn't matter since hubby won't be home until past 9pm. Tonight's cook to order entree from the chef, yours truly, is my very own spicy beef with green pepper and onions. This is one of hubby's favorite so I am just so excited to finish cooking and serve this to him as soon as he gets home. It's been a while since the last time I cooked this so he would be thrill to know what we have for dinner.

I used to be very particular with my cellphone. I had few cellphone casing that I alternately use depending on my mood or the occasion. Cellphone list. Yes, I used to have a list of cellphones that I want to have but I lose interest with them couple of years ago even if I have the means to own one. How? I don't know.

I just came to a point that I could care less on the kind of cellphone I carry. Different networks sent me flyers or letters with the hope to entice me to take advantage of their new phone or services but I always declined. However, after dropping my old phone several times it stop working and I was forced to look for a new one.

I feel in love with Samsung behold. For the record, I always love Samsung phones and I always want to own few of them. I have been using my Samsung behold for 2 years and I am very happy and contented so far. However, I am considering of changing to Samsung gravity lately. I read a lot of good reviews about this phone and some of my friends, who own one, have highly recommended it. The phone looks sleek and sophisticated and it has the feature that I would like my phone to have. However, I will be doing more searches before I will decide if this phone is the right one for me.

I love my Samsung behold and I guess I will also fall in love with Samsung gravity. I don't change phone too often so I want to make sure this is what I wanted.

More Books, Less PC Time

Weather has been very crazy lately. Wherever you turn your eyes, you will see the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is all white and I must admit it is very relaxing. The disadvantage of this kind of weather is driving on the sleek and wet road which is dangerous to the driving public, including me, who is not used to this road condition.

It's been a mess since Tuesday, when we had the first snow and sleet precipitation and the streets were then covered with snow but with more ice. All throughout the week, several establishments closed. The 2 airports in the DFW area have to momentarily stop their operation while waiting for their runways to clear and become safe for take off and landing. We have no work Tuesday and we have to open late in the last 3 days and it gave me so much time to read the books that I borrowed from the library.

I really want to go back to my favorite hobby, reading (books, novel, magazines, et cetera). I borrowed more books yesterday from the library and I am more determined to read all of them before Friday comes.

It seems like this year has started off with a lot of birthday parties. It's been a very busy start of the year with the New Year celebration opening it. At the middle of this month, I had my birthday. Hubby insisted to host a birthday party for me but I politely declined it since I only want to have an intimate family celebration. Moving on, I had 2 of my closest friends who turned 50 this month and both of them have a huge 50th birthday party. The first one is Ate Tess, who has the same birthday with me and she had her party last weekend while Ate Fe will have hers this coming Saturday. To top it off, the family gathering for my birthday will be this coming Sunday. Sure this month starts busy and ends busy as well.

Again, my husband is watching a very old movie. Yes, it is very old that either he or I wasn't born yet at the time that movie was made. Hey, don’t get me wrong. I love watching movies like in fact I am currently watching one while writing this. Why I love it? Simple. It helps me understand and visualize what the old times like that I just always read on books. Yes, some movies are really very old that they are still in black and white but man the story is great and the actors were superb.

I Will Make It Real

I was feeling a little tired as my work day ends. Despite of that, I tried my best to make a stop at the gym. Although, I wasn't there very long than I really wanted but I am happy that I am able to keep up with my plan to be at the gym at least 4 times a week. Going to gym on regular basis is part of my weight loss plan that I want to accomplish before the middle of this year. I know this isn't an easy battle especially with very cold weather and my hectic schedule but I am determined to make it happen.

I know you will agree that different people has different way of losing weight. Some are following a strict diet menu plan, undergoing cosmetic surgery, regular exercise, taking diet pills or best diet supplements available in the market today. Light Renovation On the Way

Hubby just painted another wall in our house to add to the accent walls that we currently have. I think it come out really nice and it adds a lot of style and new look to our living room. Now, he thinks of changing the wood rails in the staircase and the game room upstairs to rod iron. He also suggested to me that we have to change the carpet to wood floor in the lower level of our house and added some glass tile as a back splash in our kitchen counters. Honestly, I am sold with all his minor renovation plan except for the glass tile back splash. He said he has been to one of the model homes in couple of new neighborhood in the area and he saw couple of houses that uses glass tile for the back splash and it looks terrific. These are not urgent projects but he would like to show me his "inspiration" for coming up with the idea of this plan renovation. We will be visiting some houses in the weekend and I am excited about it.

Living Healthy and Fit

I fully commit myself to go to the gym at least 4 times a week. Since we have a gym at work for all employees, I decided to might as well use it. After work no matter how dark it is, I drop by in the gym along with my co-worker who is my workout buddy. At first, it feels like a torture turning the wheels to the other direction other than home. LOL. Looking back, it was very hard to do this especially on the first week but once I have it going I feel a whole lot better and I even look forward to do it after work. I also noticed that workout after work can help me release some stress or pressure that I might get as my day at workday progress. Losing weight is one of my new year's resolution and so far I am doing well in keeping up with it. I am now on the 3rd week of being back to the gym and I must say I love what I see so far.

Amidst Cold

Arggghhh! You heard it right! This too much cold is getting annoying and very uncomfortable especially if you need to be out of the house often. If I know I have to leave the house early the next day, I make sure to park the car in the garage so I don't have to worry about foggy or icy windshields and windows. Also, I don't have to endure the freezing cold while waiting for the car to warm especially if I don't have enough time to warm up the car before I hop in.

While inside the house, I keep myself warm by wearing layers of thick clothes and wrapping my electric blanket around me. Yes, the house is heated all throughout but sometimes I still feel cold especially if I get to the tiled part of the house. Hubby sometimes tease me how bulky I look with my thick clothes but I don't care as long as I feel warm and cozy in it. After all, I believe that it doesn't make sense to dress lightly just to look cute or hot and get sick in return. LOL

The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is now getting very busy preparing everything for Superbowl XLV which will take place February 6, 2011 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. After Sunday's game, the AFC Champ (winner between New York Jets vs. Pittsburg Steelers) and NFC winner (winner between Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears) will meet in Dallas Stadium to determine their final fate as to who will bring home the Superbowl ring and title home. Within the Superbowl week, there will be a lot of pregame parties, concerts and celebrity events all over the metroplex.
